App Store Creative Asset Generator

Make the App Store product page header (3840 x 1646), search results asset (3840 x 2560) and universal asset (5244 x 2950) that Apple added in iOS 27, laid out inside the safe areas from Apple's own templates and checked against its content guidance. Free, no account, no watermark.

Last updated 8 October 2026

Optional. Paste a listing and your icon and first three screenshots are pulled in, with the colours matched to your icon. Or upload your own below. Free, no account, no watermark, no export limit.

Screenshots

Up to three, portrait. Used by the app layout.

Exports at 3840 × 1646.

You need either one universal asset, or a header and a search results asset. The ZIP has all three so you can choose in App Store Connect. Every PNG is written with no alpha channel, which Apple requires.

One short phrase. Apple asks for text that adds to the picture rather than describing it, translated for every language you support.

Header checked against Apple's creative asset guidance

1 thing to look at.

  • Pass: Exactly 3840 x 1646 px

The 21:9 size App Store Connect lists for the product page header placement. The canvas is fixed, so the export cannot be a pixel out.

  • Pass: No alpha channel

Apple: "Images can’t include alpha channels or transparencies." The PNG is written with no alpha channel in the file at all.

  • Pass: No pricing, URLs, awards or other stores

Clear of the content Apple lists: specific prices and discounts, website URLs, copyright symbols, Apple recognitions, unverifiable claims and other platforms.

  • Pass: A short phrase

Short enough to read at a glance, which is what Apple asks of text on a creative asset.

  • Check: Text is hard to read against the background

Contrast is 2.8:1 at the worst point of the gradient. Apple asks for every key element, especially text, to stay readable. Switch the text colour or pick colours further apart.

  • Pass: Everything is inside the safe area

Every key element sits inside the 1646 x 661 art safe area from Apple’s header template, the part that survives every crop.

  • Pass: Text is large enough for the tightest crop

The headline is at least a tenth of the safe area’s height, which keeps it readable when only the safe area is on screen.

Rules from Apple's creative assets specifications and App Store asset best practices. What a checker cannot see: the 4+ age rating every asset has to meet, whether your imagery relates to what the app does, and whether the text is localised. Check those yourself, then use the preview tool in App Store Connect.

What are App Store creative assets?

Creative assets are images or videos that appear at the top of your App Store product page and on your app's entry in search results, on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 and later. Apple introduced them at WWDC26. They sit alongside your screenshots rather than replacing them, and they are optional. Apple also files In-App Event cards under the same name, with their own sizes in the table below. This generator makes the header, search and universal assets.

The difference from screenshots is what they are allowed to show. Screenshots and previews have to show the app in use. Creative assets can show your brand, a seasonal offer or new content, as long as it relates to what the app does. For years the product page started with your icon and a row of screenshots. Now it can start with a full width image you control.

Images cannot include an alpha channel or any transparency. A PNG with an opaque background can still carry an alpha channel full of 255s, which is what a browser canvas or most design tool exports produce by default. The PNGs from this page are written with no alpha channel in the file at all.

The safe areas, and where the numbers come from

Apple's guidance says to “design key elements with a safe area in mind to accommodate different devices and orientations” and to keep the focal point in the centre “to prevent any unwanted clipping”. It does not give the safe area as a number on any help page. The numbers are in the templates: each canvas in Apple's Sketch file has one rectangle labelled “ART SAFE AREA”, and the figures below were read from its layers.

CanvasArt safe areaTop left cornerShare of canvas
Header 3840 x 16461646 x 661 pxx 1097, y 49317.2%
Search 3840 x 25602168 x 1030 pxx 836, y 76522.7%
Universal 5244 x 29501402 x 962 pxx 1921, y 6608.7%

Two things stand out. The safe areas are small, under a quarter of each canvas and under a tenth of the universal one, because one file gets cropped for iPhone and iPad in portrait and landscape. Everything else is bleed: it should look intentional when it shows, but nothing that matters can live there. And the universal safe area is not centred. It sits 334 pixels above the middle of the canvas, so artwork centred by eye on a universal asset is lower than Apple's template expects.

The bleed is not empty space on every device, either. Developers checking the header in App Store Connect's Device Preview report that an iPhone shows roughly the middle 3200 pixels of the 3840 wide header, and that round back and share buttons sit over its top corners. Apple's safe area clears both, which is why the generator keeps every key element inside it.

Treat the template as the floor, not the final word. App Store Connect has a Preview button that shows the real crops on iPhone and iPad, in both orientations, and it is worth one look before you submit.

Header, search results or universal: which do you need?

Either one universal asset, or a dedicated header and a dedicated search results asset. Not all three. A universal asset is the only kind App Store Connect lets you reuse for both placements.

One universal asset

Less work and one consistent image across the store, which Apple pitches as strengthening brand recognition. The cost is that one composition has to work as a 21:9 header and a 3:2 search tile, inside the smallest safe area of the three.

A header and a search asset

Apple gives the two placements different jobs. The header sets the tone for someone already on your page, so it should carry one clear idea. The search asset is for someone comparing results, so Apple says to “state the obvious” and consider showing the interface.

The generator above makes all three from one set of choices, so you can download the ZIP and decide in App Store Connect.

What Apple asks you to keep off creative assets

All from Apple's App Store asset best practices. The checks under the generator scan your headline for the ones that can be found in text.

Prices, discounts, URLs and ©

Named together, so the asset stays relevant in every country and does not date.

Apple’s own recognitions

Editor’s Choice, App of the Day, Game of the Day, Apple Design Award. The App Store already shows these next to your app.

Claims you cannot back up

Apple’s example is awards or recognition the app has not received. “#1” and “best” fall in the same place unless you can say where they come from.

Other platforms and stores

No logos of, or references to, other platforms or marketplaces. That includes Google Play.

Anything above a 4+ rating

Assets must meet a 4+ age rating even if the app is rated higher. Games can show action but not gore, or weapons pointed at a person or the viewer.

Imagery unrelated to the app

Content from outside the app is allowed, but it must relate to the app’s general functionality, so people know what to expect.

How to make and upload App Store creative assets

  1. 1

Paste your listing, or upload your icon and screenshots

An App Store or Google Play URL pulls in your icon and first three portrait screenshots, and sets the colours from your icon. Uploading your own works the same way.

  2. 2

    Write one short phrase

Apple asks for text that adds to the picture rather than describing it, and for the header to carry a single clear idea. The checks flag anything over seven words, along with pricing, URLs and other wording Apple lists.

  3. 3

Check each canvas inside its safe area

Switch between the header, search and universal canvases. Each draws its own art safe area from Apple’s template, and the layout keeps every key element inside it.

  4. 4

    Download the PNGs

Download one canvas, or all three as a ZIP. Every PNG is written with no alpha channel, which App Store Connect requires.

  5. 5

Upload to Asset Library and preview

In App Store Connect, open your app, click Asset Library, then the + button and Upload Creative Assets. Use Preview to check the iPhone and iPad crops, then submit for review.

Uploading through Asset Library is a standalone submission, so an approved asset can go live without a new app version. If you attach it to a version instead, it goes live when that version is released. The steps are in Manage your App Store assets.

Questions

What size is the App Store product page header?+

An image header is 3840 x 1646 pixels, a 21:9 ratio, as JPEG or PNG. A 16:9 universal asset at 5244 x 2950, PNG only, can be used instead and covers search results as well. A video header is the same 3840 x 1646, 5 to 30 seconds, at 30 or 60 fps, as .mov, .m4v or .mp4. Images cannot have an alpha channel or any transparency.

What size is the App Store search results creative asset?+

A 3:2 image anywhere from 1920 x 1280 up to 3840 x 2560 pixels, as JPEG or PNG, or the 5244 x 2950 universal asset. This generator exports the maximum, 3840 x 2560, so the same file holds up on the largest screens it is shown on. Search result videos play muted and cannot be unmuted, so a video has to work without sound.

What is a universal creative asset?+

One 5244 x 2950 PNG that App Store Connect will let you use for both the product page header and search results. Tick "Use header asset in search results" on the version page, which is only offered for universal assets. Apple’s template puts its safe area 334 pixels above the centre of the canvas, unlike the header and search templates, so do not centre your artwork on it by eye.

Are App Store creative assets required?+

No. They are optional, and they do not replace screenshots or app previews. Without a header your product page looks the way it always has. Without a search results asset, Apple shows your In-App Events, app previews and screenshots in search instead, which is what happens today.

Do creative assets need a new app version or App Review?+

They need review but not a new version. Upload them to Asset Library in App Store Connect and submit them on their own, and they are reviewed against your latest approved version. Or attach them to a version under Product Page Information, Header and Search Results, and they go live when that version is released.

Which devices show creative assets?+

iPhone and iPad running iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 and later. Apple crops the same file differently by device and orientation, which is why its templates mark a safe area that is only a small part of each canvas. The Preview button in App Store Connect shows the crops on iPhone and iPad, in both orientations.

What can I not put on an App Store creative asset?+

Apple lists specific pricing and discounts, website URLs, copyright symbols, unverifiable claims such as awards you have not received, logos or mentions of other platforms and stores, and its own recognitions like Editor’s Choice or App of the Day, which the App Store already shows next to your app. Everything must also meet a 4+ age rating, even if your app is rated higher.

Is this creative asset generator free?+

Yes. No account, no email, no watermark and no export limit. The images are drawn on a canvas in your browser and never reach a server. The paid AppPage product is a smart link that sends iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play, which is a separate thing.
